A big thank you to all the amazing women (and men) who came out to the 2nd Indie-Pendent Women’s Club meeting. In one month we doubled the amount of guests in attendance, and I have high hopes that we will continue to grow! We saw some familiar faces, as well as a lot of new ones. At April’s Meeting, we had the honor of welcoming Leticia Barajas as our guest speaker. She is the big boss lady over at Dry River Brewing and a total sweetheart. Lettie spoke about her involvement in the craft beer industry, as well as the history of women brewers. I hope that in the future we can dedicate an entire meeting just to women’s roles in making beer throughout the ages.
We also did a beer tasting that night of four different Indie beers. The women of Indie (Odeth, Breeze, and myself) each chose one favorite. The final beer on the flight was of course #SquadGoals- a New England IPA brewed for the Pink Boots Society brew day. This is a beer brewed entirely by women, with proceeds going to education for women in the craft beer industry. Stop by the tap room to try it on draft and pick up some cans before they sell out!
During the discussion segment of the meeting, we talked about many tough topics. Just a few of which being harassment in the industry, not being taken seriously as women, racism and gentrification. It is very important to me that this club encourages open dialogue between women of all backgrounds, and that everyone feels comfortable speaking her mind. The IPWC is a safe space where we as women can unite with other badass ladies. After all, we’re stronger together.

Thanks again to everyone who has been so supportive of the Indie-Pendent Women’s Club. Meetings are held every first Tuesday of the month. The next one will be Tuesday, May 1st at 7:00pm in the Hop City room at Indie Brewing Co. I hope to see you all there!
