We set out to give L.A. amazing local beer, and the tasting room it so deserves. We dreamt of a casual spot where people could hang out with other beer lovers and watch bands, talk about sports, and maybe even do a little trivia night. No velvet ropes, no guest lists. Our idea of “bottle service”? Having your growler refilled by the guys who brewed the beer.

And who are we? We’re 4 guys who met in the strangest of ways over our mutual love of brewing. This love began in 2009 with homebrews in pots on an electric stovetop. The operation grew with time, and eventually, we were using every free minute we had to make beer. We left our “normal” jobs in geology, advertising and law to spend as much time as possible creating pale ales, saisons, porters and more. We want to put L.A. on the map for something other than movie stars and one-word nightclubs. It’s our mission to take L.A.-based craft beers to new heights.

But enough about us – let’s talk about you. Whether you’re a USC or a UCLA fan, an electrician or an actor, you need delicious, local craft beers made by guys you can actually talk to. You need a welcoming spot to hang out with your friends and the rest of L.A.’s beer-loving community.

Favorite Indie Beer: Connor loves the Eastside XPA because it is the best beer ever made, ever. Don’t believe me? Try it.

Kevin O'Malley

KEVIN O’MALLEY

Kevin has been homebrewing distinct beers since his first batch on an electric stove in 2006 and is a graduate of the Introduction to Practical Brewing Course at University of Davis, California, one of the top brewing schools in the U.S. Indie is the fulfillment of the dream he’s had to open his own brewery since that first batch. Kevin also is a corporate/financial services attorney at an AmLaw top 100 law firm and has been named a “rising star” by the Southern California Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel.

Favorite Indie Beer: “I’m usually not a porter guy but Indie’s Porter combines a complex rich taste with a drinkability I’ve never experienced with any other porter so it won me over.”

Morgan Keller

MORGAN KELLER

Morgan’s first experience with brewing came from a birthday gift from his in-laws. A hobby that has rapidly gone out of control, Morgan dove headlong into the field soaking up every piece of knowledge he could get his hands on. A veteran of the advertising industry, Indie is the culmination of the dream to one day run his own business.

Favorite Indie Beer: The saison is definitely my favorite. An awesome “every day” beer it seems to pair well with anything.

James Mancuso

JAMES MANCUSO

James is the master brewer of the universe.

Favorite Indie Beer: They are all his babies, so James loves them all equally.
